A portion of book proceeds are used to spread the good news about God's plan of salvation by donating books, funds, and/or supplies to ministries and organizations that help children in our country and around the world.
Children are tomorrow's leaders, and we have the opportunity to guide their spiritual growth and share God's love with the world!
We can also reach children who face unimaginable challenges and hardships daily (in our own country and around the world). We may never meet them personally, but we can make a difference in their lives and possibly their culture by providing books, funds, and/or supplies to ministries, missionaries and in-country workers.
While a portion from each book adds up, you can make a difference in even more lives by purchasing one or more books to send to a specific area. Choose "SEND PENNY PINK TO..." (beside the country's flag or ministry icon) from the Bookstore, and share the good news of God's plan of salvation with children around the world. We'll take care of getting the book(s) to the designated ministry.
Reading to kids is a great way to build a bond for eternity!
When I started telling stories to my kids over 30 years ago, I wanted to develop more than a relationship. I wanted a bond that would last our lifetime and for eternity! At first it was a bit awkward to talk about spiritual things. So, I decided the sooner I got started, the more often I did it, and the more real (and even fun) it was, the easier it would be. And, I was right. So, I made up stories and shared with my kids. I based one group of rhyming stories on the phrase, “What Would Jesus Do?” And, I know my kids were listening, because one day, my 5-year-old saw me doing something that wasn’t quite right and she said to me, “Mommy, what would Jesus do?” Well, I was really embarrassed, but I admitted she was right. We laughed, and I learned that sharing Jesus with them IS effective.
When I became a grandmommy, I wanted to have the same type of lasting bond with my grandkids (I call 'em my g'kids). I wanted to share the plan of salvation in a fun way. My g'kids LOVED bubble baths and story time. One day, I combined it all and kinda, sorta, spontaneously told the story, Penny Pink Takes a Bath. They loved it! I told it over, and over, and over at their insistence (you probably know how kids are when you tell them a story). They also insisted I do pictures to go with the story–so I did!
Penny Pink Takes a Bath is a story I wrote and illustrated to share God's plan of salvation in a way simple enough for a young child to understand. It's about a muddy little pig and what happens in the pig pen when she finally comes clean. I’ve included reproducible activity pages and a "Dig Deeper" page of notes at the end to explore the lessons found in the story (with Bible references to encourage a habit of seeking answers and confirmation from God in the scriptures). I have to admit, I have a lot of fun with this story. But, it has a much greater purpose than just fun. It shares God’s plan of salvation. Even with very young kids, sharing early and often lays a foundation and helps open doors for future deeper spiritual discussions. And, I find kids aren’t the only ones who benefit from simple truths, adults do too–me included!
I encourage you to seek out Christian stories that explain and affirm your faith and read them to the kids in your life REGULARLY. You'll never regret having done so.

PENNY PINK GOES TO GUYANA!
Donated books were sent to village libraries in Guyana, including 50 copies of Penny Pink Takes a Bath. This is a great part of sharing the good news around the world! Others have chosen to send books by using the "SEND PENNY PINK TO GUYANA" option in the Bookstore. (A total of 73 copies have been sent to-date.)
International Celebration Association is a ministry near and dear to my heart. I love assisting them with shipments and providing donated books and supplies to them as they share God's love and the good news of salvation through Jesus with the people in Guyana.
Key ministries of International Celebration Association (ICA) are:
- Establishing Christian lending libraries
- Distributing much-needed shoes and clothes to villages
- Conducting worship services in prisons; provide Bibles
- Visiting hospitals
- Visiting girls home and encourage Bible study
- Conducting worship services in juvenile detention center
- Ministering to children by sharing songs, games, gifts,
and Bible stories. They provide them with shoes
and explain, one-on-one, what it means to have a
relationship with Jesus.
Their work began in Guyana in November 2006. And through their love and obedience, through the Holy Spirit, they have seen many hearts won! (Check out the Accomplishments page on their web site.)
Several trips to Guyana are made each year. Be sure and contact ICA if you feel God would have you share in praying for and/or supporting this ministry. Perhaps God is asking you to be a part of a mission trip to Guyana.
You can also help children in Guyana by sending a copy of Penny Pink Takes a Bath from our Bookstore.
Volunteers worked with International Celebration Association at the SIM warehouse to sort and package donated books. Restore Global shipped them and other supplies to Guyana.
